I'm Rabeea Soomro

I am a Pakistani-born Australian graphic designer. I am currently in my Honours at UNSW Art & Design studying a BA Design (Hons), majoring in Graphic Design and Ceramics. I am very passionate about the British Raj and learning more about decolonial theory. This often translates into my design style, using colonial-era, feminine design with a focus on typography, digital collage and graphic artwork, often with elements of playful sarcasm, to juxtapose the absurdity of European colonialism. I am particularly fond of the ‘Gaslight’ graphic style belonging to the 1800s and seeing how this can translate into Subcontinental design.
